Ennui

Yesterday was as good as another day.
Monotony arrives, all work no play.
Tomorrow will be another today.
Is this phenomenon here to stay?

Third red light in a row

Third red light in a row
Apt to ensnare in its cage
Since you're ten minutes too late.

Third red light in a row
Road rage is hard to defeat
Unless a Beatle croons back-seat.

Third red light in a row
More red kittens crossing my lane
Mean more green ones at my computer games?

Third green light in a row
Only on your way back home
To watch the vacuous box alone.

Third green light in a row
Probability's dice is loaded
In your favour when least needed.

Third red light in a row
Either a drought or a deluge
God's mind is hard to gauge.

My First Poem Ever

It was only your sight
That took away my sleep all night
Love me you too might
Or give me a slap tight

I saw you for a while
From many a mile
But Oh! what a sight that was!

... (these parts I dont recall)

You

Missing 2 stanzas

Your presence is like
Sunshine on a cold winter day
But more so like a
Brook that turned a desert’s way

Your name is music to my ears
Your voice a symphony
Your sight is a vision of heaven
Your countenance a masterpiece

Many beaus you have
A few pursuers I do
Will I be the one
You decide to choose

Poem from my high school years

My Angel, Where are You?

I know not your name
I know not where you stay
Every place I go I look for you
My Angel, Where are You?

Long hours my heart for you does pine
Wishing you were here, wishing you were mine
Doesn’t your heart for me fonder too?
My Angel, Where are You?

Tired of life and its miseries
Tired of loneliness, another of my worries
Without you my life is all askew
My Angel, Where are You?

Hear my songs, do hear my prayers
Drive away all my tears
Your love in my life is long overdue
My Angel, Where are You?

Every face I see, I look for a sign
Every voice I hear, I hope it were thine
With you I would start my life anew
Hey Stranger, Where are You?!

Introducing the wannabe poet

I want to write a poem every week and post it here. This blog owes it's existence to Devang my roommate, who thought I should write more often.

I am a 25 year old Hardware Engineer, a cog in the wheel of a prominent Silicon-Valley firm making computer chips. I used to think that I could write poems only when I am inspired, more often than not by a pretty girl. I've only written about 5 poems so far, so I haven't been prolific by any standards. But I am trying to convince myself of the old adage, "Where there's a will there's a way", and hence this blog.

I grew up in Pune, India (about 100 miles from Bombay) and spent 22 years of my life there. I earned a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from UW-Madison last year. And for the last year, I've been toiling those hours at making computer chips during the week. I also maintain another blog called Ain't No Mountain High Enough.
